This is a book, part of a series on British Prime Ministers, that might encourage a more positive view of the eighteenth century in Britain. It is a relatively easy to read biography of one of the few greats in the period with 100 splendid illustrations in particular the cartoons which are full of wit and sarcasm.

Pitt emerges from the shadow of his powerful father to become effective Prime Minister in his early twenties and dominates politics for 25 years or so leading up to his death in his late forties. Sadly it all starts to go a bit awry in his last few years.
